What to Wear for Your Photos

It’s a question I used to get ALL the time: “But, what should we wear?!” I understand that picking outfits that photograph well can be feel like quite a task… but I’m here to tell you that it’s not as complicated as you might think!! Today I’m sharing 3 tips from my Client Experience Guide: how to dress for your family photos!

1. Maintain your personal style
It is important to me that your images look and feel like you. If your style is colorful and spunky, don’t wear black and white. If you are pretty much the poster child for Anthropologie, do us ALL a favor and show up with that style! Also, remember to be aware of anything you would rather NOT accentuate. For example, if you aren’t crazy about your arms, avoid wearing a sleeveless dress. Maintain your personal style so that you can look and feel as comfortable as possible in your photos!

2. Pick a color scheme
Don’t try to MATCH. Instead, pick outfits and accesories that coordinate. Try picking 2-3 colors that blend well together and coordinate that way! Experiment with different shades of colors, or adding different prints or fabrics to the mix. And don’t forget that neutral colors ALWAYS photograph well!

3. Layers + Accessories
This is great way to add pops of color and patterns. If you struggle with assembling outfits for all 3 kids, your spouse AND yourself, then don’t be afraid to of neutrals! Pull out a colorful gaudy necklace or a patterned scarf to add some character.
